VIRTUAL DELEGATION- Al Am’ari Refugee Camp

"I was born in the camp, and I won’t say it’s been my whole life... but maybe, one day, we will return to our hometowns. The camp, however, is truly beautiful—far better than life outside, in the city. It holds a warmth and sense of belonging that the city could never offer."
— Tamer Hammad, Al-Am'ari local, in an interview with Eyewitness Palestine.

Located east of Ramallah, Al Am'ari Camp is one of the smallest refugee camps in the West Bank, with a registered population of 15,315, including 5,048 children. Despite its small size, the camp encapsulates the severe challenges faced by Palestinian refugees living under Israeli military occupation.
The residents of Al Am'ari frequently endure invasions by the Israeli Occupation Forces, further exacerbating their already precarious living conditions. These incursions disrupt daily life and instill fear and uncertainty, particularly among children, who bear the brunt of the trauma.

WEBINAR- PALESTINE SPEAKS: EDUCATION UNDER OCCUPATION

The right to education is a basic human right and fundamental to human freedom. The United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that ‘everyone has the right to education.’ However, the Israeli military systematically obstructs education in the West Bank and Gaza, which violates the human rights of individuals and also impedes the development of Palestinian society. Following a year of Israel’s destruction of every university in Gaza, ongoing colonial violence across the West Bank, and the repression of campus protests and encampments for Palestine across the US, concerned students and faculty at The City College of New York will gather on campus to hear from members of the Right to Education Campaign (R2E) at Birzeit University and students from Al Quds University in Palestine about the impact of Israel’s illegal occupation on Palestinian educational rights.

WEBINAR: Education under Genocide: Supporting Gaza's phoenix elementary school

Since the onset of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, schooling came to a tragic halt. Classrooms sat empty, and over 11,000 Palestinian students who once held dreams of a future lost their lives. Amid the devastation, more than 80% of Gaza’s schools were demolished, depriving countless children of the simple joy and opportunity of education. In response to this heartbreaking reality, Eyewitness Palestine uplifted the work of Playgrounds for Palestine, which launched Phoenix Elementary School as a beacon of resilience and learning for Gaza’s youth. This unique school blended traditional and non-traditional learning for students in grades 1-5, with a special emphasis on literature for older students. On November 4, 2024, we came together to hear from Susan Abulhawa, founder of Playgrounds for Palestine, who courageously traveled to Gaza twice during the current genocide to bring hope and healing through education. Susan shared her journey, the inspiration behind the Phoenix Elementary School, and the transformative power of writing for Gaza’s children.

Eyewitness Palestine hosts a timely and important webinar to learn about who Palestinian political prisoners are, and the unjust Israeli system that detains them. Since October 7th, hundreds of Palestinians in the West Bank have been arrested, bringing the total number of Palestinians detained by the Occupation up to a remarkable 7,000, including children. Many of these Palestinians are held without trial or charge under a practice of Israeli military law called administrative detention. Arrests have also increased in Gaza and throughout '48. During this webinar, you will hear from Palestinian attorney for Addameer, Tala Nasir, Arab Barghouti, son of long-time political prisoner Marwan Barghouti, Palestinian activists, and family members of Palestinians who remain unjustly detained.

AMERICANS AGAINST GENOCIDE Webinar

A genocide is taking place in Gaza as American-funded Israeli weapons rain down on schools, residential buildings, and, most recently, the strike on Al-Ahli Arab Hospital, which is funded primarily by the European Union and Episcopal Church, killing over 500, who were sick, injured, or medical staff. In this webinar, we hear from different Americans on why everyone should be calling for a stop to the genocide of Palestinians happening before our eyes. All funds raised will support the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF). Founded in 1991 by concerned humanitarians in the USA, PCRF provides free medical care to thousands of injured and ill children yearly who lack local access to care within the local health care system. Over the years, PCRF has sent over 2,000 affected children abroad for free medical care, sent thousands of international doctors and nurses to provide tens of thousands of children free medical care in local hospitals, and provided tens of thousands of children humanitarian aid and support they otherwise would not get.
