Reflections on Silwan
The landscape holds and represents the very essence of identity. It speaks volumes about the values and perspectives we hold and the foundations in which we build upon.
However, upon visiting an active Israeli archaeological dig in the Palestinian village of Silwan, it is evident that Israel ironically takes a much more destructive, devastating, and calculating approach to building society.
Walking among the ruins of demolished Palestinian villages and farmlands eradicated of their original history, we are faced with the blatant reality of the Israeli nation being built on corruption and violation of human rights and the landscape by a people who claim an exceptional love of the land.
