Communications Coordinator
Opportunity/Position Synopsis
The Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director to create and oversee the implementation of a strategic approach to communications and marketing which includes donor cultivation, delegate engagement, delegation marketing, social media management and strategy, website management and development, advertising, the design and creation of print, online, and video materials, and other strategic initiatives designed to raise the organization’s profile and amplify its impact. Some travel may be required.
Leadership
Participates with the Executive Director in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization and present to the Board.
Uses marketing and communication strategies to promote positive public image of EP with key audiences (prospective delegates, former delegates, funders, board members) and advance efforts to raise money
Leads organizational approach to message development and framing, including identifying organizational storylines and subject matter
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Designs and implements communications goals and strategies (80%)
Creates an annual communications and marketing plan to engage EP’s key audiences and promote positive public image for EP and advance EP recruiting and fundraising goals
Design and implement social media plan as well as website changes and updates
Creates and implements plans to engage, involve, and upgrade EP’s core constituents, former delegation participants
Creates and manages annual communications calendar identifying which forms of content will be sent to which audiences
Maintains, manages, and provides regular updates to EP’s website as needed (approximately weekly)
Creates regular content for social media channels. Leads growth of EP’s social media footprint and online engagement
Implements email campaigns in support of program and fund development goals by working with other staff. Manages email list group segmentation
Coordinates production of 12 newsletters per year in conjunction with Programming to coincide with Virtual Delegations
Markets upcoming delegations across online platforms, including managing modest advertising budget for ads
Coordinates productions of yearly annual report. Works with other program staff to plan content and messaging for this.
Produces marketing fliers for delegations
Occasionally produces EP brochures and event fliers
Oversees widespread dissemination of media produced on delegations by delegates, including:
Shares and disseminates written, image, and video content produced by delegates
Manages online blog for each delegation
Manages photo and video archives for each delegation, including identifying best photos for future publication use
Pursues media exposure or placement as appropriate
Oversees EP’s use of video, images, and new media, to pursue communications and marketing goals
Coordinates and supervises volunteers for specific communications and marketing projects.
Tracks and reports quarterly online analytics in the communications and marketing plan, including:
Website and social media sites
Advertising and marketing strategies
email open rates, engagement, and other analytics
Manages communications and marketing budget
Works with the Executive Director to identify and plan fund development targets and strategies, including:
Coordinates the Direct Mail program to meet annual campaign fundraising goals
Coordinates the Online Giving program to meet annual campaign fundraising goals
Coordinates donor cultivation of EP delegates after their delegations
Collaborates with the Fundraising Committee and Executive Director to develop, cultivate, and retain new donors, including identifying opportunities to grow EP’s lists, and develop constituent models
Supports editing, material-production, and content needs for other fundraising strategies, including grants, major donors, and monthly donors.
Collaborates with Fund Development Team on the planning and execution of additional fund development priorities determined strategically useful
Produces regular quarterly reports evaluating success towards goals for direct mail, online giving, and delegate giving
Supervises interns and volunteers to assist with position tasks
Engages in opportunities for learning, growth, and professional development related to communications, marketing, and fund development
Administration (10%)
Ensure proper documentation of various processes and procedures
Attending team meetings and one on ones/supervision with ED on a regular basis
Attending meetings with Board if and when requested
Fundraising (10%)
Assisting when needed for end of year and other fundraising campaigns for Eyewitness Palestine
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: Social Media intern and/or consultant
Status: This is a full-time position with generous benefits, including full health care, 20 vacation days, comp days for weekends worked, and seniority raises
Salary Scale: $60,000 per Annum
Skills and Qualifications
At least three years of communications, marketing, or public relations experience
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English or a related field
Excellent written, verbal, and editing skills in English. Other languages a plus.
Proficiency with Windows and Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office applications, and social media platforms
Demonstrated experience in using online communications tools, including WordPress, social media, and mass email communications.
Broad understanding of Palestine/Israel politics
Creative and flexible problem-solver
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities while working with multiple individuals
Familiarity with Eyewitness Palestine a plus
Commitment to social justice and strong belief in mission and values of EP
Ability and willingness to supervise a few key volunteers to assist in your work
Demonstrated understanding of theory and practice of multi-channel communications planning
Storytelling skills and experience
Commitment to values of EP, including principles of solidarity, features of organizational culture, and comfort working in EP’s structure
Ability to work with other (including remote) staff in a collaborative environment
Broad understanding of contemporary social movements in North America
Interest and ability to work constructively and openly with a wide range of individuals coming from a wide range of backgrounds and understandings regarding the politics of Palestine/Israel and social movements in North America
Requirements:
