VALUING OUR STORY: THE HISTORY OF ISLAM IN THE AMERICAS
Santa Clara, CA I Muslim Community Association
Eyewitness Palestine delegate Ossama K. is part of the team organizing this interactive panel and community discussion around early Muslim migrations to the Americas, the legacy of African scholarship in the Americas, the legacy of Islam in the Civil Rights movement, and the state sanctioned conditions that exist against our community that hinder our re-imagination beyond the colonial projects vision for political, social, and economic success.
Community members will have the opportunity to break into group discussions, intended to facilitate listening and understanding on the challenges, ambitions, and hopes that brought all of us into the room. This is part one of the program.
Part two of the program will be a Bazaar hosting artists, designers, and community organizations, in a space intended to celebrate and value our presence.
