This is Not Normal
The fact that we cannot return is not normal. The dilution of our community spaces and religious sites (and so much more) by social media and the media at large is not normal. Of course, the settlement that is Israel is not normal either. I would not say that what I know is being flipped on its head but rather being both unsettled and reconfirmed. Here's to hoping I get inoculated against that special brand of Palestinian-American nostalgia/romanticism. Where do we Palestinians in diaspora come into the discussion of liberation? Do we bring imagination into the discussion while our counterparts back home help temper us with reality?
Where do we go from here? وهلّأ لوين؟
