Eyewitness Palestine seeks multidisciplinary creative expression—essays, poetry, art, photography, fiction and music—on the theme of Witnessing Palestine.
Exceptional submissions will be published in a book commemorating Eyewitness Palestine’s 25th Anniversary. Submissions may also be featured on Eyewitness Palestine’s social media accounts, on our website, and in our newsletters.
We seek to provide “eyewitness” experiences of Palestine, to a wide audience, through art. We are looking for work that surprises and moves us, work that takes hold of our attention and doesn’t let go. “Personal encounters” may include diaspora longings, travelers accounts, everyday reflections from historic Palestine, and imagined encounters. Original translations are welcome so long as publication permission has been given by the author of the original work.
We welcome and encourage work from writers of every nationality, race, religion, sexuality and gender, including writers/artists with disabilities.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

We are open for submissions during two reading periods:
1. May 1st–August 30th
2. January 1st-April 1st.
Please send no more than one submission, per-genre, per reading period. We hope to provide a response within 4 months of submission date.
We do accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. We also accept previously published submissions, so long as the author/artist has publishing rights and publication details are provided at the time of submission.
If you need to retract a submission, please send an email to epstorysubmissions@gmail.com with the subject line: Retraction, followed by your name. In your email, let us know if you are retracting your full submission or only a portion of it.
Editorial assistance will be provided to those whose work is selected, however we cannot accommodate edits or updates during the reading period. Please do not retract and resubmit due to typos!
Any funds raised through submissions will be used to support Eyewitness Palestine’s work in the Palestine Solidarity movement. We feel deep gratitude for all who give us the opportunity to consider their work. We regret that we are unable to pay contributors, however we’ll endeavor to promote your art through our channels.
